Bonus Episode: Author Geneva Monroe

Hello fellow nerds! Deb had the pleasure of sitting down the Geneva Monroe this week, the debut author of the Sun Serpent Series and Dark Oz! We met Geneva at the @imaginariumbookfestival last year as a bookstagrammer and can't wait to see her there this year as a published author. We are blown away by her writing, so go check her out!

Most days, you can find Geneva wandering the streets of her small colonial town or snuggling up beside a fire with her husband, son, and two cats. No matter the location, she probably has a book in one hand and a macchiato in the other.

Over the past twenty years, Geneva has visited nearly every continent. She has spent hours exploring temples in Asia, been graced by the generosity of families who welcomed her into their home, danced on South America’s shores, and climbed mountains in Africa to watch the sun rise. It has been her greatest joy to explore the planet’s amazing diversity, and then share that with as many people as she can.

This desire found its home in her debut novel SUN SERPENT. Geneva writes fantasy kingdoms with complex and nuanced cultures. She draws upon the visual language of the places she’s traveled and combines them to create new landscapes. The end result is a world that feels familiar and yet captures that same wonder she felt during those first steps beyond the boundaries of her childhood home.

Join us as we chat with Geneva about writing pretty, stabby things, naughty words for nice authors, as well as all of her nerdiest things. Be sure to follow Geneva at @geneva_monroe_author

When not toiling away at caffeine-fueled scholarly pursuits, she enjoys jewelry-making, cupcakes, and concocting dark tales to unleash upon the world.

Bonus Episode: Author AK Landow

Hello, fellow nerds! We have a special Sunday bonus interview this week with raunch-com author AK Landow! Her writing is known for laughs, tears, and for being one-handed reads.

AK is the author of the Belles of Broad Street and the City of Sisterly Love series. She’s a recovering attorney living outside of the Philadelphia area with her husband, who she secretly pined for through her teen years, three crazy hormonal daughters, and multiple animals.

She enjoys reading, now writing, drinking copious amounts of vodka, and laughing. Having discovered there’s no other need in the world for funny degenerates, she’s thrilled to have this new avenue to channel her age-inappropriate sense of humor.

She published the first four books in the City of Sisterly Love series in 2022, with the final full length (a few novellas added) book having been published in 2023. She initially wrote the first book, Knight, because it pisses her off that there are no FMCs over the age of 40. She wrote it as an FU to the romance community to let them know that "oldies" still get it on. She fell so madly in love with both being an author and her fictitious family, that she can't seem to stop writing. The entire series centers around a group of strong, intelligent, confident, and supportive women. The central family is known for severe cases of oversharing and walking in on each other. Hilarity often ensues.

Listen in as we chat more about AK’s work, what she's currently reading, and how she lived out the secret crush trope in her real life.  Be sure to follow her @aklandow_author

Hello, fellow nerds! This week we have a super awesome interview with the "Pucking Around" Queen, Emily Rath! We will be spending some time with Emily at @litlowcountry in South Carolina next month and tickets are still available! Come hang out with us!

Emily Rath was raised in Northern Kentucky, near your fellow podcasters! A life-long lover of words, she’s been writing for as long as she could hold a pencil. Her earliest stories were about daring egg burglars, majestic horse lords, and seafaring adventurers. She put story-writing on hold for a few years…quite a few years…as she pursued higher education. She chose to focus on her other soul mate: international politics. This lover showed her the world outside of books.

Now, she holds a BA in political science and philosophy and a PhD in peace studies and political science. She specializes in African politics and credits her time living in Malawi for reigniting her love of writing. She hates coffee and leeches and loves a why choose romance.

Bonus Episode: Authors BL Cagle and SJ Brown

Hello, fellow nerds! Did you know that most of our author interviews are in video format? And you can watch them directly on Spotify! Check out this interview with the awesome sister duo, BL Cagle & SJ Brown who we will be meeting at Lust in the Low Country!

BL Cagle and SJ Brown are sisters and co-authors originally hailing from Lewisburg TN. BL, or Brandy, currently lives in South Carolina with her husband, daughter and their rescued fur baby. She is also a proud Mom of an Army MP. Brandy is a daytime VAMPIRE and works alongside some very wonderful Doctors and Residents. She is a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan, loves animals, and both dirt track and drag racing. When she's not writing or reading, you can find her on the trails riding her RZR with her family, or at muscle car shows.

SJ, or Sammie, lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband, two daughters, and two naughty golden retrievers. She is a former professional wedding photographer and dove head-first into writing with Brandy after the Covid pandemic changed everything. When Sammie isn’t writing, she is chauffeuring her daughters to cheer and tumble practice, lounging on her front porch swing while reading and trying to befriend some squirrels, playing with her dogs, or teaching herself to draw. She is a proud Alpha Gamma Delta and a die-hard Swiftie.

Brandy and Sammie are the authors of Dreams of Darkness and Desire and its follow up, Dreams of Secrets and Shadows.

Listen in as we chat more about BL & SJ's work, what they are currently reading, and all of their nerdiest things. And be sure to follow them at @blcagleauthor_sjbrownauthor
