Bonus Episode: Author Whitney Dean
Hello, fellow nerds! We had the pleasure of chatting with Whitney Dean, author of The Four Kingdoms series and Rise of the Cinder Fae!
Whitney is the author of the bestselling Fantasy Romance series, ‘The Four Kingdoms’. Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas and raised in Allen, Texas, she now resides in a quaint little town where she spends her days penning more Romantasy ideas. Her love of reading came from the Harry Potter series when she was seven years old, and frequent trips to the most magical place on earth. Because of it, the fantasy realm has taken up residence in her brain for a very long time. While her writings include real-life pain and angst, she is a fan of happily-ever-afters and always strives to bring that forth in her stories. Whitney grew up reading books from all genres, but her favorite has always been anything within the fantasy realm. Now, she's living her dream and creating new worlds for readers to get lost in.
Listen in as we chat more about Whitney’s work, her Whitney’s Version of The Four Kingdoms series, and why she loves writing anti-heroes. Be sure to follow her @authorwhitneydean

Bonus Episode: Author Geneva Monroe
Hello fellow nerds! Deb had the pleasure of sitting down the Geneva Monroe this week, the debut author of the Sun Serpent Series and Dark Oz! We met Geneva at the @imaginariumbookfestival last year as a bookstagrammer and can't wait to see her there this year as a published author. We are blown away by her writing, so go check her out!
Most days, you can find Geneva wandering the streets of her small colonial town or snuggling up beside a fire with her husband, son, and two cats. No matter the location, she probably has a book in one hand and a macchiato in the other.
Over the past twenty years, Geneva has visited nearly every continent. She has spent hours exploring temples in Asia, been graced by the generosity of families who welcomed her into their home, danced on South America’s shores, and climbed mountains in Africa to watch the sun rise. It has been her greatest joy to explore the planet’s amazing diversity, and then share that with as many people as she can.
This desire found its home in her debut novel SUN SERPENT. Geneva writes fantasy kingdoms with complex and nuanced cultures. She draws upon the visual language of the places she’s traveled and combines them to create new landscapes. The end result is a world that feels familiar and yet captures that same wonder she felt during those first steps beyond the boundaries of her childhood home.
Join us as we chat with Geneva about writing pretty, stabby things, naughty words for nice authors, as well as all of her nerdiest things. Be sure to follow Geneva at @geneva_monroe_author

She may be the smartest person we know–her doctoral research examines the supernatural in modern Japanese and former-Yugoslavian literature and its relationship to violence, and her Master of Health Studies research focuses on type 1 diabetes and emotional labour in young adults.
When not toiling away at caffeine-fueled scholarly pursuits, she enjoys jewelry-making, cupcakes, and concocting dark tales to unleash upon the world.

Bonus Episode: Author Elizabeth Kirke
Hello, fellow nerds! This week’s author interview is with Elizabeth Kirke, who we met got to sit down with on the podcast and who we hosted a panel with at Imaginarium Book Festival!
Elizabeth wanted to be an author before she even knew what an author was. She used to say that she wanted to be an artist, but that was only because she was too young to write and had to tell stories with pictures instead. She hasn't stopped writing since she learned how. It wasn't long before she dreamed of becoming an author and couldn't be happier now that that dream is a reality.
If she isn't writing...well, let's be honest; if she isn't writing she's probably on Facebook thinking that she should start writing. But, if she isn't writing or on Facebook, she's probably doing something involving books, baking, gardening, or yarn. In an ideal world, she'd be reading and knitting while something from the garden is in the oven. Then again, in an ideal world, she'd have a flock of ducks and a couple of goats.
Listen in as we chat more about Elizabeth’s “More than Magic” series, what she's currently reading, and her fave fandoms. And be sure to follow Elizabeth at @elizabethkirkeauthor

Her travels to Maui largely inspired the setting of her debut novel, “An Element of Darkness”.

She has always been a reader, and a story-teller of sorts, with works circling back to the heyday of Fanfiction.net and a popular HP Marauder’s Era fan-fiction that shall never be named. When she is not writing or reading, she is likely sniffing book-themed candles in a totally non-addictive sort of way, collecting custom Funko Pops, or being a dog mom. Bonus Episode: Author Kate Gateley
Hello fellow nerds! This week's bonus episode is with author Kate Gateley, with whom we will be with at Imaginarium Book Festival this weekend!
Background on Kate:
With a B.A. in Linguistics and a B.Sc. in Physiology from the Univ. of Saskatchewan, Kate Gateley has always been fascinated by history, Celtic Ideology, ancestral memory & generational wounding, and the “Divine Feminine,” and those personal studies continue to influence every aspect of her life. When Kate published her first book, Tides of the Sovereign, she knew that it was only the beginning of a story she has always wanted to write—one with heart and meaning that was actually worth sharing. In December 2022, the book was announced as the winning title in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi category of the Canadian Book Club Awards. Continuing now in Book Two, Mantle of the World Ruler, and beyond into the next volume still to come, that story has grown far beyond what she could ever have imagined … into something that she dearly hopes can one day find—and deserve—a cherished spot among those volumes of both contemporary fantasy and historical romance that so inspired her growing up. Kate currently lives on a small farm on beautiful Vancouver Island, with her amazing husband, two incredible sons, an adorable dog, several barn cats who don’t earn their keep, and some decidedly ungrateful chickens…all of whom are very dearly loved.
